Raw mango chutney recipe

Raw mango chutney also called as mango thogayal in Tamil Nadu is prepared with raw mango and coconut as the main ingredients. It goes well with idlis, dosas as well as rice. You can try adding garlic which also tastes excellent. Seasoning with urad dal, mustard seeds, curry leaves gives more flavour to this tangy mango chutney.


  • Raw mango - 1 cup (chopped finely)
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Ginger - 1 inch small piece
  • Salt
  • Cooking oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Urad dal - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Few curry leaves


Step 1

HOW TO MAKE RAW MANGO CHUTNEY RECIPE Wash the mango thoroughly and chop them into medium pieces. Discard the seed part.

Step 2

Now grind the mango pieces, coconut, green chillies, ginger and salt to a smooth paste by adding little water.

Step 3

Remove the chutney in a serving bowl.

Step 4

Temper the chutney with mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves

Step 5

Serve raw mango chutney with idlis, dosas or plain rice. IMG_3402
