Capsicum sabzi with besan (chickpeas flour) recipe
Capsicum sabzi is prepared with gram flour which gives a good taste to this vegetable. It does not need a lot of preparation and can be done quickly. Cabsicum sabzi goes well with rice, chapatis, jeera rice or dal rice.
Ingredients
- Green capsicum - 6 nos
- Gram flour (besan) - 1 cup
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Onion - 1 (medium sized chopped finely)
- Garlic cloves - 5 to 6 nos
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
Method
Step 1
HOW TO MAKE CAPSICUM SABZI WITH BESAN (CHICKPEAS FLOUR) RECIPE Wash and chop the capsicum into small pieces and keep it aside. Chop the onion and garlic cloves into small pieces and set aside.
Step 2
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and stir fry lightly.
Step 3
Once the seeds stop crackling, add chopped onions and garlic cloves and cook till onions become translucent.
Step 4
Then add capsicum pieces and salt and cook with the pan covered, for 3 to 4 minutes on a medium flame.
Step 5
Once capsicum is cooked, add red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Mix well and saute for another 2 minutes on a low flame.
Step 6
Then add gram flour (besan) little by little stirring continuously. Cook for another five minutes on a low flame till the gram flour is cooked and becomes light golden in colour.
Step 7
Lastly sprinkle lemon juice and mix well. Switch off the flame. Capsicum sabzi is ready to be served. Transfer the contents to a serving bowl.
Step 8
Serve capsicum sabzi hot with rotis or phulkas. It can also be served as a side dish for dal rice.
