Sweet appam or nei appam or vella appam recipe

Sweet appam is a traditional south indian sweet dish made from rice, jaggery, ghee and coconut. It is made on festival days and is very popular dish in Tamil Nadu. In Tamil Nadu, sweet appam is prepared for festival called ‘karthigai deepam’ which means festival of lights. In Kerala, sweet appam is served as prasadam in temples. Mashed banana is also added to batter while making appams in Kerala which is called as unni appam. Sweet appam can be either deep fried or cooked in a kuzhi paniyaram.

Potato capsicum or aloo shimla mirch recipe is a very tasty and easy recipe to make. It make a good accompaniment for rotis or phulkas. Aloo shimla mirch subzi is a semi dry sabzi which is made with potatoes and capsicum and mixed with Indian spices.

Heerekai tove or ridgegourd dal or turai ki dal recipe

A tasty and delicious dal made with ridgegourd and tur dal. Heerekai or ridgegourd dal tastes good with rice as well as rotis too. Ridgegourd is commonly known as turai in India. It is low in fat and high in fiber and has blood purifying properties and also has a cooling effect on the body. Heerekai tove recipe is very easy to make and can be done in a jiffy.

Vegetable upma is a very healthy and delicious breakfast option and very easy to make too.

Menthya soppu huli recipe is very popular in Karnataka and easy to make too. Menthya soppu huli or methi sambar is also called as vendhaya keerai sambar in Tamil Nadu. It is made with fenugreek leaves, tur dal, tamarind and jaggery and best served with rice and little ghee. It also makes an excellent side dish for rotis. Fenugreek leaves are rich in iron, calcium and potassium and it helps in digestion.

Hagalkai or karela gojju is a traditional and simple curry recipe from Karnataka. This curry is served with hot rice and little ghee and it makes a sumptuous meal. Hagalkai gojju has a combination of sweet, spicy and tangy taste which goes well with both rice and rotis.

A complete meal by itself, sweet corn pulao is a very healthy and delicious rice dish. Corn is low in fat and has lot of vitamins including vitamin C and it is also high in fiber. Corn pulao is made with rice, corn and mixed with spices. It can be had on its own or served with raita or papads. Corn pulao recipe is easy to make and healthy too.
