Oats chilla is a quick and healthy Indian breakfast dish made with oats, besan and spices. Besan or gram flour is protein rich and makes the dish wholesome. Oats chilla are best served with green chutney or tomato sauce with a cup of hot tea. Oats are healthy cereals and has got lot of health benefits. They are rich in fibre and therefore gives a feeling of fullness and keeps hunger pangs at bay for a long time, which is very helpful for weight loss. Variety of dishes can be made with oats, but this oats recipe is a quick recipe which can be made in less than 30 minutes.

INGREDIENTS
Oats – 1 cup (rolled or instant)
Besan or gram flour – 1/2 cup
Onion -1 (chopped finely)
Tomato – 1 (chopped finely)
Green chillies – 2 (chopped finely)
Ginger or adrak – 1/2 inch (grated or chopped finely)
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Curd – 2 tablespoons
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Red chilli powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Chopped coriander leaves – 2 tablespoons
Salt to taste
Oil for making chillas
HOW TO MAKE OR PREPARE OATS CHILLA RECIPE
Grind the oats to a fine powder in a mixer grinder.
Take a mixing bowl and add the ground oats. Then add besan, onion, tomato, green chillies, ginger and coriander leaves. Mix everything well.
Then add curd and little water. Mix well again with the help of a whisker. Add cumin seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
Mix well and add more water to form a thick flowing consistency. Heat a pan or tawa on medium flame. Smear little oil on the surface of the pan.
Pour a ladleful of batter onto the hot tawa and spread gently to form a circle. Pour oil on the sides of the chilla. Cook on medium flame for a minute. Then flip and cook the other side of the chilla. Healthy and delicious oats chilla is ready to be served. Serve with curd, tomato ketchup or green chutney as desired.
NOTES/TIPS
Oats chilla tastes great when served hot.
Add grated carrot to the batter to make it more nutritious.
Oats chilla can also be had as a quick evening snack as it can be done under 30 minutes.
