Cheese bread pakora
Indian bread stuffed with cheese mixture and deep fried in gram flour batter. A healthy evening snack that goes well during the monsoon.
Ingredients
- White Bread slices - 8
- Cheese slices - 8
- Gram flour (besan) - 2 cups
- Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 teaspoon (optional)
- Baking powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red chilli flakes
- Pepper powder
Method
Step 1
HOW TO MAKE CHEESE BREAD PAKORA For making besan batter, take a bowl. Add besan, salt, red chilli powder and mix well.
Step 2
Add enough water to make a smooth batter. The batter should not be too thick nor too thin. Then add ginger-garlic paste and baking soda and mix well.
Step 3
Take one bread slice. Keep one cheese slice over the bread. Sprinkle red chilli flakes and pepper powder over the cheese slice. Cover this slice of bread with another slice of bread. Ensure the cheese is well covered between the breads.
Step 4
Now cut the cheese stuffed bread into 4 triangles.
Step 5
Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Ensure that the oil is not too hot, otherwise the pakoras will not get cooked from inside and will get burnt. Similarly if the oil is not hot enough, the pakoras will absorb more oil.
Step 6
Dip each cheese stuffed bread triangle in gram flour batter and gently slide into the oil. Deep fry on both the sides till light brown. Remove the pakoras in an absorbent paper to remove the excess oil.
Step 7
Serve cheese bread pakoras hot with tomato sauces or with chutney of your choice.
Step 8
NOTE : Instead of cheese slices, you can also use grated cheese mixed with onions, green chillies and coriander leaves and use this a mixture between the bread slices.
Hi charu,
Can we make this without cheese? I dont like milk based products.
It tastes good with cheese. Or else you can try with tomato omelette and then deep fry. I think it should taste great.
