HOW TO MAKE OR PREPARE WHOLE GREEN MOONG CURRY RECIPE
Wash the whole green moong in running water till the water runs clear. Soak in enough water for about 2 hours. Drain the water and add 2 cups of fresh water and turmeric powder to the green moong. Pressure cook the green moong for upto 3 whistles. Once the pressure cools down, slightly mash the cooked moong and keep it aside.
Heat ghee or oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Then add cumin seeds and saute till light brown in colour. Add chopped onions and stir fry till the onions become translucent. Then add green chillies and ginger-garlic paste and saute till the raw smell of the ginger-garlic goes away.
Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they become soft. Then add coriander powder, red chilli powder and garam masala. Stir well all the ingredients. Cook on a low flame for 2 minutes. Add very little water , if required, so that the masalas does not get burnt.
Then add the cooked moong and 1 cup of water. Add salt and mix well again. Simmer on a low flame for 4-5 minutes. Adjust the consistency of the dal by adding more or little water as per your preference. Switch off the flame.
Add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
