Besan ke ladoo or laddu recipe – Easy to make Indian deepavali/diwali sweet

Besan ladoo is a very traditional and  popular indian sweet made with besan, ghee and sugar. It is very easy to prepare and very often made during Diwali festival or any festive occasions. Besan ladoos are very nutritious and healthy too, as nuts like pistachios, almonds and cashewnuts are added to it.

Ingredients

  • Gram flour (besan) - 1 1/2 cups
  • Powdered sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Ghee - 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cashewnuts for garnishing

Method

Step 1

HOW TO MAKE OR PREPARE BESAN LADOO OR LADDU RECIPE Heat ghee in a pan. Add gram flour and roast continuously, on a medium flame till the aroma exudes and colour changes to slight golden brown. This may take 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 2

Switch off the flame. The besan mixture will look semi liquid. Pour mixture into a bowl. Let it cool down.

Step 3

Let the besan mixture cool down to warm temperature and not room temperature. Add powdered sugar, cardamom powder and mix well.

Step 4

Grease the right hand palm with ghee and take some warm besan mixture. Shape the mixture into ladoos of desired shape.

Step 5

Garnish the ladoo with cashewnut and it is ready to be served.

Step 6

Once cooled down completely, store in an airtight container. The ladoos can be stored for 2 to 3 weeks.

Step 7

Cooking tips: While roasting the besan mixture, keep stirring continuously with the spatula, to prevent burning. Ensure to roast on a low or medium flame otherwise the mixture will not cook fully.
