Nippattu or Thattai recipe

Nippattu is a very popular snack from Karnataka especially from Mysore and Bangalore. Nippattu is usually deep fried but can also be baked. It is a crispy and spicy snack which is perfect for tea time munching. This recipe is contributed by my close friend, Mrs. Usha Nayaka who also happens to be a Mysorean.

Capsicum paneer paratha recipe

White pumpkin is low on calories but high in water content and is ideal for weight watchers. It helps relieve frequent colds and aids digestion. White pumpkin yoghurt curry is a traditional south indian recipe using ashgourd and yoghurt.

Aloo bhindi

A north indian side dish made with potatoes and ladysfinger and cooked with spices. Aloo bhindi goes well with rotis, naans or parathas. It is a very delicious and healthy dish and is very easy to prepare.

Akki rotti

Akki rotti means rice pancake in Kannada. It is a rice based breakfast dish which is very popular in Karnataka. It is made of rice flour which is mixed with onions, green chillies, coriander leaves, chana dal, cumin seeds, salt and water and heated on a tawa/pan till light brown. Akki rotti is also served as an evening snack. This Akki rotti recipe has been contributed by one of my very close friends, Mrs. Usha Nayaka who happens to be a Mysorean. Togari bele pudi or paruppu podi or kandi podi or tur dal powder

Togari bele pudi means tur dal powder. This powder is very simple to make and is eaten with hot rice and little ghee or sesame oil. This powder is usually available at all south indian households. It is a well known podi in Andhra meals which is incomplete without this podi.

It is a combination of vegetables like french beans, spring onions, carrot, capsicum and cabbage and spices and can be cooked faster. It is a lighter and healthy version of fried rice.
