Sprouted green gram (moong) pakora recipe
Sprouted moong pakoras is a quick and easy snack or pakora recipe made with sprouted green moong. It is a healthy, crunchy and delicious teatime snack which is best enjoyed with green chutney or tomato sauce. Sprouted moong is very rich in proteins, fibre and other nutrients. Adding curry leaves and ginger gives a nice aroma and taste to the pakoras. You can either the sprout the green moong at home or it is readily available in small packets in the super markets. You can use these for making instant and healthy pakoras when you have unexpected guests at home or simply enjoy them with your family as a teatime snack.
Ingredients
- Sprouted green gram - 1 cup
- Green chillies - 2
- Ginger or adrak - 1 inch small piece
- 1 string of curry leaves
- Chopped coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon
- Onion - 1 (medium-sized) (chopped into small pieces)
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Method
Step 1
HOW TO MAKE SPROUTED GREEN GRAM (MOONG) PAKORA RECIPE Grind sprouted moong, green chillies, ginger, curry leaves and salt to a coarse paste without adding water. Just sprinkle water to get the binding.
Step 2
Remove the mixture in a small bowl. Drain any excess water if required. Add chopped onions and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
Step 3
Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan or kadai on a medium flame. Take a small ball sized dumpling and drop them gently into the oil and deep fry till golden brown in colour.
Step 4
Remove the pakoras in an absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
Step 5
Serve sprouted moong pakoras hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
Step 6
NOTES/TIPS: You can make pakoras with just soaked green moong without sprouting too. Soak green moong overnight and drain the excess water and use them for making pakoras. If the mixture is too watery, just little besan or gram flour and make pakoras.
