Raw mango curry/green mango curry recipe – Kerala style
Raw mango curry is a very simple and tasty curry which goes well with hot rice. It is also called as pacha manga curry and is a very popular dish in Kerala.
Ingredients
- Raw mango - 1 (medium sized)
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Whole red chillies - 2
- 1 string of curry leaves
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- TO GRIND
- Grated coconut - 1 cup
- Green chillies - 2
- Garlic cloves - 5
- Cumin seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
Method
Step 1
HOW TO MAKE RAW MANGO OR GREEN MANGO CURRY RECIPE Wash and chop the mango into medium pieces.
Step 2
Boil the chopped mango pieces with just enough water, salt and turmeric powder till they become little soft.
Step 3
Grind coconut, green chillies, garlic cloves and cumin seeds with little water to make a smooth paste. Keep it aside.
Step 4
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chillies. Once the seeds stops spluttering, add coconut paste and mix well.
Step 5
Now add cooked mango along with little water. (you can use the same water used for boiling mango).
Step 6
Add salt and mix well. Adjust the water accordingly to bring to a medum consistency and simmer for about 8-10 minutes on a low flame. Remove from flame.
Step 7
Serve raw mango curry with hot rice.
