Udupi saaru or udupi rasam recipe

Udupi saaru or rasam is very popular for its unique and divine taste. The important ingredients used are coconut oil and jaggery. This is my humble try to get that taste and flavour through this recipe.

Raita is an accompaniment for rice, pulao or biryani. Bhindi raita is made with ladyfinger, yogurt and seasoned with spices and is generally served chilled.

Sihi avalakki or sweet poha

In kannada, sihi means sweet and avalakki means beaten rice. Sihi avalakki is a festival sweet dish made of beaten rice and jaggery. It is usually made on Gokulashtami/Janmashtami day, as an offering to Lord Krishna.

Methi matar malai

Methi matar malai is a rich North Indian dish made from fenugreek leaves, green peas and fresh milk cream. It is best served with rotis and naans.

Dal Palak

Dal palak is a north indian cuisine and a healthy dish made of spinach leaves and lentils. This dish tastes great with rice as well as rotis.

Tomato bhath or tomato rice recipe

Tomato bath or tomato bhath is a very delicious and simple to make recipe and a popular south indian dish. Tomatoes gives a tangy taste and flavour to the rice.

Heerekai chutney or ridgegourd chutney

Heerekai chutney made from the peels of ridgegourd, coconut and tamarind. It is a good accompaniment for hot rice and dosas. Ridgegourd is called as peerkangai in Tamil and turai in hindi. It is low in fat and high in dietary fibre, vitamin C and iron. It also helps in strengthening your immune system against any infection.

Besan ke ladoo or laddu recipe – Easy to make Indian deepavali/diwali sweet

Besan ladoo is a very traditional and  popular indian sweet made with besan, ghee and sugar. It is very easy to prepare and very often made during Diwali festival or any festive occasions. Besan ladoos are very nutritious and healthy too, as nuts like pistachios, almonds and cashewnuts are added to it.
