Masala corn is a spicy, flavourful and healthy snack made with sweet corns, butter and Indian spices. This masala corn is one of the popular corn recipe which is sold in paper cups in various public places in India. Sweet corn is prepared in different flavours like pepper flavoured corn, spicy corn, masala corn, lemon flavoured corn and so on, where you just add more of your favourite flavour and have it. Masala corn can be had as a snack when you are craving for something spicy but healthy to eat. INGREDIENTS
Sweet corn – 1 cup
Pepper powder – a pinch
Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Lemon juice – 2 teaspoons
Butter – 2 teaspoons
Chat masala powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
HOW TO MAKE OR PREPARE SPICY MASALA SWEET CORN RECIPE
Boil the sweet corns with sufficient water till it is cooked or corn becomes little soft. Drain the water and set aside.
You can also pressure cook the sweet corns for upto 4 whistles till corn turns soft.
Take a mixing bowl. Add the cooked corn, butter, red chilli powder, cumin powder, pepper powder, chat masala and salt and give a quick and nice stir. Lastly add the lemon juice and mix well again.
Serve spicy masala corn hot or warm immediately.
TIPS/NOTES
Adjust the spices according to the taste required by you.
You can microwave the masala sweet corn just before serving.
I used frozen corn readily available in the market. You can also use the fresh corn kernels cob, where the corn kernels has to be separated from the cob and then prepare it.
It is preferred to serve it immediately, once prepared. Otherwise just warm it up, before serving.
You can add chopped onions, tomatoes and sev to make a corn chaat recipe instantly.
