If you add vegetables to the batter, it becomes all the more healthier. Beetroot dosa is another healthy dosa made with beetroot and a different version of dosa recipe. I feel it is a good way to include vegetables in our day-to-day diet. Beetroot dosa is a iron and calcium rich dosa which is not only healthy but also colourful dosa, which the kids would love to eat. If you have the idli dosa batter ready, then it is easy and also quick to prepare these dosas.

INGREDIENTS
Idli dosa batter – 2 cups
Beetroot – 1 (small sized chopped roughly)
Green chillies – 2
Red chillies – 2
Ginger – 1 inch sized chopped
Cumin seeds or jeera – 1 teaspoon
Oil for cooking dosas
HOW TO MAKE OR PREPARE BEETROOT DOSA RECIPE
In a mixer grinder, add the roughly chopped beetroot, green chillies, red chillies, ginger and cumin seeds and grind to a smooth batter. Do not add water while grinding. Set it aside.
In a bowl, take the idli dosa batter. Add the ground beetroot paste and mix well.
Heat a tawa on a medium flame. Pour one ladleful of batter and spread it to a round shaped dosa. Drizzle oil on the sides of the dosa and cook for 2 minutes. Flip on the other side and pour oil again on the sides. Cook till done and repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve healthy beetroot dosa hot with sambar or coconut chutney
NOTES/TIPS
You can also add chopped onion along with beetroot for a nice and added flavour.
Make the dosas according to the thickness desired.
