Methi pulao or methi rice

Methi pulao or methi rice is a very delicious preparation made with fenugreek leaves, rice and mixed with spices.  Fenugreek leaves is a good source of iron.  It is a very healthy dish which can be had plain or served with curd or raita.

Method

Step 1

HOW TO MAKE METHI PULAO OR METHI RICE Wash and soak basmati rice for 15 minutes and drain.

Step 2

Discard the stems of methi and wash the methi leaves thoroughly. Chop the methi leaves finely and keep aside.

Step 3

Heat oil/ghee in a small pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and when the cumin seeds start spluttering, add onions and saute till they become translucent.

Step 4

Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for few more seconds.

Step 5

Add chopped tomatoes and cook on a medium flame till they become soft.

Step 6

Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and garam masala and saute for a minute.

Step 7

Add methi leaves and saute till the methi leaves become soft.

Step 8

Add soaked rice and 4 cups of water. Pressure cook till 3 whistles.

Step 9

Serve methi pulao hot with raita or papads.

    avoid tomotoes in this recipe instead add green peas and green chillies it tastes fab. and looks green .
